Thanksgiving measured by the cupful

Brown sugar packed into a cup,
Sweet Potatoes fill the bowl,
Cranberries steaming in a pot,
Turkey roasting in the oven.

These delicious elements mixed together, sweet, earthy, strong and soft,
Fill our home.
All of these, symbols of who we are as a family this Thanksgiving.

Children’s art decorates the table,
Grace and gratitude will be said heartfelt.
Abundant food and love on the menu tonight.

My grandmother’s recipes,
Mixed with new creations.
Table set by little hands,
Potatoes mashed by big ones.

Warmth and rich smells of baking welcome travelers from the crisp outdoors.

New traditions begin,
Love steaming in pots and bowls.

Gratitude overflowing,
we celebrate Thanksgiving.
