Rain song

The rain,
it has returned home
after a time away.
So long away.

Boots,
blankets
and knitting.
This candle
warmly lighting the room,
as the rain
softly
showers.

It’s been so long
since I’ve seen this kind of nourishment.

Without asking for anything in return,
the rain nurtures the earth,
a sparkling blanket
of care.

Tomorrow,
it may be gone.

Or perhaps,
a silky fog will welcome us awake.

Tonight,
the rain’s music
sings me to sleep.

Resting,
once again
in the sweet lullaby
that the sky sings to the earth.
